Does Full And Slim Live Up To The Hype?
Read Our Verdict
One of the UK’s top newspapers – The Daily Mail has recently reported on a new slimming drink that is going on sale in the UK in early 2014
Called Full and Slim, it has been advertised under the premise that it is a fruit flavoured drink that has the same effect as a gastric band – it works by making the stomach feel fuller, because of this the user generally eats less and loses weight as a direct result.
The makers have made some powerful claims about their product, stating that in trials it has helped users lose around 5% of their bodyweight, reducing bad cholesterol levels and BMI at the same time.
They tell us that users could lose up to 14lbs in just one month by mixing one sachet with water and drinking it 30 minutes before each meal.
Appetite suppressants like this are generally considered to be the most effective and generally safest way of losing weight.
Whats In Full And Slim
The drink was developed around the appetite suppressing qualities of Glucomannan, an extract taken from the root of the Konjac plant, this is blended with L-Carnitine, an essential amino acid also known for its health benefits.
Glucomannan is a natural dietary fibre that can hold many times its weight of water, when taken in supplement form it gently swells in the stomach to provide a feeling of fullness.
Where to buy?
There are very few retailers for this product, the cheapest and most reputable is undoubtedly Pharmacy2U, who stock a 21 sachet box for £27.95 – Click here to buy direct
Does Full And Slim Work
The jury is still out on this one…. Full and Slim is due to go on general sale in early 2014, buyers in the Uk should be able to buy from Boots the Chemist, it is not known yet if it will be available outside the UK.
Full and Slim will ( we understand) be sold at £28.95 for one weeks supply ( 21 sachets), users are expected to mix and drink one sachet 30 minutes before each meal.
Concerns Surrounding Glucomannan
Although Glucomannan is nothing new, and has formed the basis of numerous appetite suppressing supplements, there are some concerns surrounding its continued use.
As a dietary fibre, it gently swells in the stomach to promote a feeling of fullness and it has been proven to be highly effective in many users… however there are concerns that it has caused some well documented side effects that include:
- Abdominal Pain
More worrying are reports that it can also cause allergic reactions in some users, these include, rashes, hives and in some cases swelling in the mouth and throat.
There have also been some extreme ( and rare, we have to say) cases of users suffering blockages of the intestine which have resulted in surgical intervention.
Could suit some users, but for us we feel that the high cost (£115.80 per month) along with the risks linked to Glucomannan far outweigh the obvious benefits..
