Is Hydroxycut max for women safe?
Can it really help burn calories and bodyfat fast?
Manufactured by MuscleTech, Pro Clinical Hydroxycut Max for women is advertised as “an extreme weight loss supplement that can burn fats and calories quickly”.
The Hydroxycut brand of diet supplements has a somewhat chequered history, having been withdrawn by the company in 2009 following warnings by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that this group of products could cause serious injury to the liver and heart.
The original Hydroxycut Max has since been replaced by Pro Clinical Hydroxycut Max for women, this time using a different formulation that no longer includes the ingredient suspected to have caused the health problems – hydroxycitric acid (HCA).
It should be noted, however, that the FDA did not directly link the health risks to HCA. Strangely, the newly formulated product no longer includes the ingredient from which it derives its name!
Hydroxycut Max for women results
This product contains no less than 25 ingredients, including green tea extract and caffeine as well as extracts from Lady’s mantle, wild olive, Komjin and wild mint.
Two clinical studies which are briefly reported on the manufacturer’s website in 2010 and 2011 apparently show that this blend of ingredients can aid weight loss, although neither appears to have been peer reviewed or published in medical journals.
The recommended dosage is one capsule twice a day for three days, increasing to two capsules twice a day for a further five days, followed by three capsules twice a day. Capsules should always be swallowed with water.
Potential adverse side effects
Since the health problems that led to the withdrawal of the original Hydroxycut range of products were never definitively tied to hydroxycitric acid, it remains possible that the newly formulated product may cause some side effects.
Many of these symptoms are likely to be related to caffeine; unfortunately the manufacturer’s website gives no indication of the quantities of any ingredient, so it is impossible to assess whether levels or this stimulant are within the recommended maximum daily dosage for caffeine. Clearly users should be cautious about consuming drinks containing caffeine whilst taking this product.
What do customers say about Pro Clinical Hydroxycut Max for women?
Reviews are very mixed: most users report strong initial weight loss but many experienced intense side effects which forced them either to reduce the dosage or stop taking the capsules entirely.
- This product contains some ingredients which are widely believed to aid weight loss, such as green tea extract and caffeine.
- The website does not specify the quantity of any ingredient, which makes it impossible to assess either the effectiveness or safety of the product.
- Users report a wide range of side effects.
- The scientific evidence in support of the manufacturer’s claims for this product is very sketchy.
Is Pro Clinical Hydroxycut Max for women worth buying?
The normal retail price for the product is around $60 for 120 capsules, which after reaching the maximum recommended dosage, would last for 20 days. It should be said that the cost varies from retailer to retailer and it may be possible to purchase Hydroxycut Max for women at around half the recommended retail price.
Given the serious health problems attributed to the original formulation of this product, its a leap of faith to try it, especially considering the fact full ingredient information (in terms of quantities used) is not given.
